Clive Sinclair's futuristic electric velomobile - the Sinclair C5 was produced in 1985, with 14000 vehicles shipped, at a price of £399. Sadly, it never took off, neither appealing to drivers nor cyclists, but was certainly a symbol of 1980s British design.

The 1980s VW T3 Transporter (T25, Vanagon) doesn't have the curves of the 70s T2 vans but despite the boxy shape still retains the feel of the originals. The contrast in size (most notably width) is apparent in these pictures. Beyond 1985, the T3 gained rectangular headlamps, in contrast to the round ones fitted here. The grill between the indicators shows this to be a water-cooled, rather than air-cooled example
